Join the Health Sciences Program at the Hillsdale Area Career Center to learn about a variety of health related careers and get hands-on experence in the field. By the end of your 2nd year, you can become a Certified Nursing Assitant with a Phlebotomy Certificate as well!

Meet the instructors

Tharp

Jennifer Tharp, RN, Instructor

Jennifer Tharp has been a registered nurse for over 25 years.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Concordia University of Mequon, Wisconsin.  She has a diverse background in nursing including clinical experience in mental health, maternal/child health, pediatrics, intensive care, medical surgical nursing, and long-term care.  Jennifer has worked in Nursing Education since 2008 at Jackson College and in her current role as the Health Science Instructor at the Hillsdale Area Career Center.   She is passionate about both nursing and teaching and considers herself lucky to have a job that allows her to do both.  Jennifer feels her real-life experience will be helpful in opening the eyes of eager students to the wonderfully rewarding world of health care.



Ashley Porter

Ashley Porter, RN, Instructor

Ashley is a graduate of Robert B. Miller College in Battle Creek, MI where she earned her Bachelors degree in Science. After 8 years of working in the medical field as an RN, Ashley received her certification from Western Michigan University to teach CTE in the area of Health Sciences. Ashley will be teaching the Phlebotomy program for HACC as well as Medical Terminology.
