What is CTE?

Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students with the academic and technical skills, knowledge and training necessary to succeed in future careers . In total, about 12.5 million high school and college students are enrolled in CTE across the nation. CTE prepares these learners for the world of work by introducing them to workplace competencies, and makes academic content accessible to students by providing it in a hands-on context. In fact, the high school graduation rate for CTE concentrators is about 90 percent – 15 percentage points higher than the national average.

Meet the Principal

Mueller

Jamie Mueller, Principal

Welcome to Hillsdale Area Career Center. I am a life long resident of Hillsdale County and in 2019 began working at HACC. I received my Bachelors degree in Secondary Education from Spring Arbor University with a major in Social Science and minor in Biology. I obtained my , Masters degree in Educational Psychology with an emphasis on Educational Media and Technology from Eastern Michigan University and went on to earn my K-12 Administration certification soon after. I worked as a middle school principal and then a K-12 principal for 6 years before coming to HACC. My husband, Joe, is the Art teacher at Homer High School and my daughter, Macy, attends Western Michigan University.

I am excited to bring CTE programming to Hillsdale County where students have access to high quality instruction and opportunities.
